I think this gets to the heart of the problem. Open borders is one part of it, but it goes way beyond that. I think there is a palpable sense that Europe and Britain are on the verge of becoming failed states. Housing costs are out of control, meaningful employment is a fantasy, high energy costs are crippling industry and personal budgets. Worst of all, there is no hopefulness. There is no sense that the political class will tackle any of these issues. Hell, they won’t even acknowledge them. Amidst all of this, the political elite play their fiddles while their countries burn.
The categories we are given to describe understand this or any other event are "left" and "right", qualified by "far" or central". GTF. As far as I can tell, left/right is something to do with the French Revolution. Far/near is inscrutable and anybodies guess. To hell with this meaningless nonsense.
